About Roots

Let's All Heal Now.

I am a Queer affirming, anti-racist, pro-Indigenous, pro-immigrant, pro-abolitionist mental health coach, activist, and community empowerment advocate. I support decolonization in the mental health forum. I specialize in clients who are pre-adolescent children(10 yo+) through mature adults. I have accrued more than twenty-five years of expertise supporting individuals who manifest Anxiety and/or Depression. Many of my clients are proudly Neurodiverse (including but not limited to Autism Spectrum and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity). I have a niche supporting individuals who identify as gender non conforming.  Additionally, I work with individuals experiencing grief and bereavement, as well as with those navigating generational, racial and gender-based trauma, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

My practice is integrative, meaning I utilize traditional Western therapeutic ideologies and applications fused seamlessly with Eastern and Indigenous healing practices. Specifically, I use Humanistic and Solution Focused therapeutic applications combined with Art Therapy, Ecotherapy, Breathwork and Transcendental Meditation foundations.  I meet with clients virtually, face to face, or using a hybrid format.

My first objective when meeting with new or potential clients is to establish a trust-based connection and to build rapport. As we bond and feel safe working together, my clients and I co-create goals for clients’ optimal alignment and fulfillment. My objective is to facilitate client growth at individually customized comfort levels and pacing. Safety and vulnerability within a coach-to-client relationship is essential. I firmly believe that individuals house their own sacred medicine; often our wounds are our access points to our wisdom, gifts, and transformative healing arts. My role is to assist clients as they discover these access points, learn how to interpret, and navigate their own range of medicinal tools and conceive radical and expressive self-love. My role as a coach is impermanent; I  conscientiously step back in correspondence to clients’ stabilization, evolution, and embodiment. As clients assume agency and emotional balance beyond the container of client/coach relationship, I celebrate their authenticity, sovereignty and self expression. Nurturing and maintaining a relationship with self that embodies radical self love is the powerful legacy I hope to cultivate in my clients.

My personal philosophy is that our intention and commitment to individual healing work has a profound impact on our ability to engage mindfully and positively with others. This impacts individuals in our immediate field, our extended family/kinship groups, friend networks, communities, the global collective and with our Earth Mother. I am passionate about sharing my love for Earth with clients. I utilize the amazing resources in our local ecosystem: the forests, the wetlands, waterways, and the ocean, to foster reciprocity and sustained healing for clients and for our home planet. I offer walk-and-talks for clients who would like to incorporate somatic movement into therapy sessions, or for clients who tend to be sedentary at work and who would like to add body work into their healing practice. As individuals and communities become connected to nature, they become more grounded, and their compassion for themselves as integral and significant components of the natural world expands.

An additional skill set I offer derives from my niche as a working artist. I  share my home studio with clients who seek alternative modalities for therapeutic work. Artistic expression is simply another point of convergence between coach and client. Kinetic, playful self-expression, coupled with a sacred studio space devoid of criticism and judgement is a wonderful container for clients who may be challenged with traditional talk therapy.

I am an advocate of practicing the medicine I profess. This includes my own daily grounding practices as well as acute awareness of my nervous system regulation, my capacity for stimuli, and my adherence to personal mindfulness practices. I model self care as a coach and support my clients as they develop and maintain boundaries and cultivate their unique self-care rituals and routines. I view my role with clients as a sacred, reciprocal relationship in which we share wisdom, affirm, and guide each other with humility and intentionality.
