Disclaimer

I am a mental health coach and advocate; I am not a clinician nor am I a certified LPC/LCSW therapist. My degree is a masters of arts degree in Urban Education and Counseling. My experience draws from over twenty years as a mental health coach, educator, certified school counselor and small group facilitator for adults and young people.

Referrals: Sometimes as I work with a client, I may deem it necessary to refer them to the care of a clinician. In this case, please know I will refer the client accordingly. If the client is a minor, I will discuss referrals with the client's parent/caregiver immediately. I am always happy to continue working with clients in conjunction with clinicians.

Confidentiality: As a mental health professional I am bound by confidentiality to my client. I may invite a parent/caregiver/loved one to a session, after securing permission from my client.

Maltreatment and Reporting: Ethically, I am obligated to break confidentiality with my client only when potential or active harm is perceived and/or disclosed. Examples of this include (but are not limited to): client self harm, including suicidal ideation or attempt; client intent to harm others; intent to harm client or maltreatment from other individuals, including family members or caregivers. I am a mandated reporter to Child Protective Services and I am bound ethically to report disclosed or suspected child maltreatment for children and young adults under the age of eighteen years.
